Description:

Wood floors are character-defining features to all historical buildings that are easily misunderstood. Join Steve Stuckey, former Architectural Conservator of George Washington’s Mount Vernon home and current Executive Director of the Tower Heritage Center, on a journey about wood floors in historic buildings. This exciting session details wood flooring used over time in historic buildings, how the flooring was made and installed, and some common finishes used throughout history. Some brief discussion will be around how best to preserve and restore wood flooring, but only as an overview. There will be fabulous images and drawings of wood flooring and, as always, lots of energy! So don’t miss out! In-person AND virtual participation options are available, though physical seating is limited.
