FOIA Request to Town of Farmington Regarding New Voter Registrations on Election Day, November 5, 2024.

As a team at the Washington County Times, we are committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs. In line with this commitment, we have submitted a request under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., for records pertaining to new voter registrations that occurred on Election Day, November 5, 2024.

Our request specifically seeks a list of these newly registered voters in an electronic format. As media professionals involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, access to such public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These responsibilities include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.

We believe that given our role in disseminating information, we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals. We eagerly await a response from the Town of Farmington regarding this request and remain available for any questions or clarifications needed.
