FOIA Request to Washington County Regarding Public Records on October 7, 2024.

In our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at the Washington County Times have formally requested access to public records under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq. The request was sent electronically on October 7, 2024.

The specific records we are seeking include a list of FOIA logs that were sent to Washington County from January 1, 2024, until October 7, 2024. We have asked for these logs to include the following fields: Requester Name, Requester Organization, Request Content, Request Date, Request Complete Date, and FOIA Status.

As a media organization dedicated to holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public, access to these records is essential for us in fulfilling our professional responsibilities. We believe that as members of the media involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.

We await a response from Washington County regarding this request and will keep our readers updated with any developments.
