Edgewood College issued the following announcement on March 9.
This week marks the one-year anniversary of the American Rescue Plan, the federal legislation that included stimulus funds that helped keep colleges and universities open and operating during the COVID-19 pandemic. Students across the country, including students at Edgewood College, received direct support under the American Rescue Plan.

“This support enabled our community to persist through some challenging days, and for that we are filled with gratitude,” President Andrew P. Manion, said. “This direct student relief for some has meant the difference between suspending their dreams, or continuing their educational aspirations and completing their degree from Edgewood College.”

The American Rescue Plan provided $39 million to students and colleges when they needed it most. In all, more than 1,100 students at Edgewood College, in both undergraduate and graduate divisions, received direct relief under the Plan. Manion also praised Wisconsin’s elected officials who supported the legislation, especially Rep. Mark Pocan of the 2nd district, where Edgewood College is located.

“Our students have done everything asked of them for the last two years, and it appears we are finally within sight of brighter days ahead,” Manion said. “We are grateful for this support, and I am especially grateful for our students, and for the students who will follow.”
