ST CHARLES PARISH: It Is Time To Stand And Fight - Canon Law In A Time Of Spiritual And Cultural Warfare Presentation

Zz

St Charles Parish issued the following announcement.

Bishop Robert Barron, in his Letter to a Suffering Church, repeatedly makes the point that Catholics must "stand and fight" - not just despite the recent crises that have weakened the Catholic Church in the USA but because of such crises. Barron claims it is time for every Catholic - not just clergy or religious - to "stand and fight" by proclaiming their Catholic identity, by practicing their faith, and by proudly defending the Church as the presence of Christ in today's world.

But what does this look like in practice? What kind of "battles" should we fight, and what "weapons" should we use? And what does canon law have to do with all this? Does the presence of rights and law in the Church have anything to offer in light of today's spiritual and cultural crises?

Michael Mazza, a Milwaukee native and civil attorney presently studying canon law in Italy, will address these topics in a talk Wednesday, August 19 at 6:30 pm. The talk will be live-streamed on the parish website. All are invited to this stimulating and inspiring presentation.

In addition to many years of work in the Church as a teacher and catechist, Michael has over 20 years of experience practicing civil law in the US. He has one year remaining at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross in Rome for a license in canon law.

If you would like to support Michael, you may do so through our e-giving on our website or drop off a check in the parish office.
