City of West Bend issued the following announcement on November 5.
The City of West Bend received a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for the year ended December 31, 2019. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
The Finance Department was also awarded the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from GFOA for the current fiscal period beginning January 1, 2021. The award reflects the commitment of the City of West Bend staff to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting. These guidelines are designed to assess how well an entity’s budget serves as a policy document, financial plan, operations guide and communications device.
“The City of West Bend is committed to accurate and transparent financial reporting,” said City Administrator Jay Shambeau. “These awards are a testament to the extraordinary work that’s completed on a daily basis by the Finance Department, our entire organization, and in particular Finance Administrator Carrie Winklbauer. She and her team truly go above and beyond!”
In addition to the GFOA awards, the City of West Bend was assigned the long-term rating of ‘AA’ from Standard & Poor (S&P) Global Ratings for its series 2021B taxable general obligation (GO) community development bonds. The AA rating declares the City to be at a very strong capacity to meet financial commitments due to its leadership, organizational policies, and financial stability. It will position the City to receive the best possible interest rates on future borrowings.
