NWTC Celebrates Alumni & Newly Graduates

Ne

Northeast Wisconsin Technical College recently issued the following announcement.

In addition to honoring graduates of the 2020 and 2021 classes, the event recognized all NWTC Sturgeon Bay alumni since its new campus in 1971.

“Graduation is a special time of the year for our entire community,” said April Konitzer, NWTC Sturgeon Bay regional manager. “A lot of hard work has been put forth toward this important milestone for our students and their families, and we are thrilled to celebrate their accomplishments.”

Recognizing their aspirational journeys and contributions to the community, Jan Mills and Andy Anderson were appointed as this year’s alumni speakers.

Meet the Keynote Speakers

Jan Mills moved to Sturgeon Bay in 2013 to be closer to her mother. With an MBA in Business Management, she launched her own company. To expand her skillset and career opportunities, Mills enrolled at NWTC and graduated in 2017 with a Therapeutic Massage Technical Diploma. Today, she owns Door County Massage and Door County Yoga and has expanded her business and staff by hiring graduates from the NWTC program.

Andy Anderson tried a four-year college after high school, but it wasn’t the right fit at the time, so he began his career in the military and served for seven years. In 2001, Anderson was accepted into NWTC’s Physical Therapist Assistance Program and graduated with a job offer at Door County Medical Center. While working full-time, Anderson pursued a bachelor's in Human Development at UW-Green Bay, transferring into the program with 60 credits thanks to his associate degree from NWTC. Anderson has been with Door County Medical Center for over 18 years and now is its Rehab Manager.

“Without NWTC, I wouldn’t have been able to start my job that has turned into my passion. There are a lot of benefits to a technical college, but the biggest benefit for me was the hands-on clinical experience because it allowed me to not only decide what type of therapy I wanted to pursue, but also connected me with my current employer,” said Anderson.

Spring 2022 enrollment is open now, for more information on the NWTC Sturgeon Bay campus, call (920) 746-4900 or visit the NWTC Sturgeon Bay page online.
