On Monday August 15th, the Village Board will be reviewing the proposed language to listed in the November Referendum regarding whether to provide water and sanitary sewer service to a portion of the Village of Richfield.
Referendum Question
Shall the Village of Germantown sell water and sanitary sewer service to customers in a portion of the Village of Richfield pursuant to the terms of an Intergovernmental Agreement between the Village of Richfield and the Village of Germantown?
Explanatory Statement and Effect of Vote
The terms of the Intergovernmental Agreement negotiated between the Villages provides that property owners within the approved service area of approximately 443 acres in the Village of Richfield would become customers of the Germantown Water and Sanitary Sewer Utilities who would be served by water and sanitary sewer infrastructure that is paid for by the Village of Richfield. The approved service area is described as the “Northeast Corridor” and is generally bounded by Interstate 41, Holy Hill Road, Highway 175 and Pleasant Hill Road. A copy of the Intergovernmental Agreement is available for inspection at the Village Clerk’s office.
A “yes” vote would result in the execution of the negotiated Intergovernmental Agreement so that the Germantown would sell water and sanitary sewer service to customers in the “Northeast Corridor” of the Village of Richfield.
A “no” vote does not allow Germantown to execute the negotiated Intergovernmental Agreement.
